Wilson Chair Overview
The Wilson Chair in Business Ethics at UNI is a senior faculty
position dedicated to:
- fostering discussion and debate
about ethical practices in business
- educating students and community
members about the social and ethical issues facing global
business
- developing state of the art research and theory in business ethics
| | The Chair's incumbent holds a joint appointment in the Management Department of the College of Business Administration and the Department of Philosophy and
Religion in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts. As with all faculty, teaching, research and service
expectations are important. In addition, the Wilson Chair undertakes outreach to the larger community to encourage
awareness of and competence in business ethics. |

The Donor: David W. Wilson |

| A philosophy graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, David W. Wilson has had
a very successful career in the automobile industry for over 30 years. |

| In November
of 2004 Mr. Wilson was awarded the 2005 Horatio Alger Award
for Overcoming Adversity to Achieve Success. Each year,
the Association bestows the Horatio Alger Award on truly
outstanding Americans. Association Members are dedicated
community leaders who demonstrate individual initiative
and a commitment to excellence, as exemplified by remarkable achievements accomplished
through honesty, hard work, self-reliance and perseverance. |

| Donna J. Wood joined UNI as the first holder
of the David W. Wilson Chair in Business Ethics in September, 2002, after 22 years
at the Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh. |
